It is tempting to assume that if an oxidant is consumed, it must be reacting with the chemicals of concern (COCs), or if a carbon substrate disappears, so will the contaminants. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.
PRIMA has conducted hundreds of studies to determine whether a given remediation technology can destroy COCs present in site soil and groundwater. Tests have been conducted on established technologies to ensure that site materials do not adversely affect removal, on new technologies to be sure the technology works as advertised, and on zero-valent iron (ZVI) to obtain rate constants.

- fuel oxygenates (MTBE, TBA etc.)
- chlorinated solvents (PCE, TCE, 1,1,1-TCA, etc)

- pentachlorophenol (PCP)
- Freon
- PAHs
- Pesticides (e.g. DDT, Lindane, Dieldrin, toxaphene)
- Styrene
- Nitrate
- Hexavalent Chromium, Cr(VI)
