PRIMA frequently performs studies to assess aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation of a variety of contaminants. Tests have been conducted using various electron donors such as
- emulsified vegetable oil (EVO)
- cheese whey
- lactic acid
- ethanol, and
- propane
with or without added bacteria or nutrients, to assess their ability to enhance or augment bioremediation of TPH, chlorinated solvents, and NDMA.
PRIMA has also custom designed studies to assess the effect of soil saturation on contaminant biodegradation and to estimate the rate of anaerobic biodegradation of DDT in sediment.
